The nose is deep, with a sweet honeyed and raisin character, hints of wax: a very old fashioned Highlands profile, with no oak excesses, showing its maturity to the full.
The same balance is found on the palate, with a malty quality that is simultaneously sweet and slightly peppery, and also quite mineral. It strikes a fine compromise between tannin presence and round fatness. There are notes of cottage gardens, ripe bananas, hints of mustard.
The whole is clean, taut, full-bodied and firm.
