Founded in 1830, the Talisker distillery sits on the shores of Loch Harport on the Isle of Skye. As the island's oldest distillery, Talisker centers its brand on 'Made by the Sea'. The unique sea salt tang and intense peppery peat have earned it a special place in the hearts of whisky lovers worldwide.
Dark Storm was originally designed for Travel Retail to showcase Talisker's breakthrough in cask craftsmanship. By charring the casks at extremely high temperatures, the interior forms a charcoal-like structure that filters impurities while stimulating the deep sweetness and smoky potential hidden within the oak. Compared to the classic 10 Years Old, Dark Storm offers a more mellow, slightly caramel-edged smoke with warm spices, perfectly evoking the majesty of a storm over the Skye coast.
The distillery insists on bottling at 45.8% ABV, which Talisker believes is the ideal strength to showcase its robust character and complex layers.
