Talisker Distillery, established in 1830, is located beside Loch Harport on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. As the island's oldest distillery, Talisker embodies the core philosophy 'Made by the Sea'. The spirit's characteristic sea salt savor and intense peaty pepperiness have secured its unique status among whisky aficionados worldwide.
The Dark Storm expression was originally designed for Travel Retail, intended to showcase Talisker's breakthrough in cooperage craftsmanship. Through extremely high-temperature charring, the interior of the oak barrel forms a charcoal-like structure. This not only filters out impurities but also unlocks deep-seated sweetness and smoky potential from the oak. Compared to the classic 10 Year Old version, Dark Storm exhibits less raw peatiness, instead presenting a richer, slightly caramel and warm spice smoky profile, perfectly interpreting the magnificent feel of storm clouds gathering over the Isle of Skye.
The distillery insists on bottling at 45.8% ABV, which Talisker believes is the ideal strength to display its robust style and complex layers.
