Product Details

Taketsuru 21 Years Old is crafted from high-aged malts from Nikka's two main distilleries: Yoichi and Miyagikyo. The Yoichi malt provides a robust body and faint smokiness, while the Miyagikyo malt contributes elegant fruity and floral notes. This 'Pure Malt' technique allows the whisky to achieve a perfect balance between complexity and drinkability.

Read More Brand Story

Taketsuru whisky was founded to honor Masataka Taketsuru, the 'Father of Japanese Whisky'. In 1918, he traveled alone to Scotland to learn the art of whisky making. Believing that nature and water are vital for fine whisky, he established the Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido and the Miyagikyo Distillery in Sendai.

The 21-year-old is the flagship of the brand. Unlike standard Blended Whiskies, it is labeled as 'Pure Malt', meaning it uses only malted barley without grain whisky. The blenders masterfully combine the powerful peaty character of Yoichi with the gentle elegance of Miyagikyo.

Since the mid-2000s, Taketsuru 21 has won multiple 'World's Best Blended Malt' titles at the WWA. With the tightening supply of Japanese aged stock, this expression has become a rare gem for collectors worldwide, offering a sensory feast of warm wood notes and rich ripe fruit.
