Smögen is a Swedish distillery founded in 2009 by Pär Caldenby, a lawyer and whisky enthusiast. Smögen is also the name of the local town.
While their output is limited, they have received excellent scores at the World Whiskies Awards in 2019 and 2020, drawing significant attention to this young distillery. Independent bottlings of Smögen are quite rare.

Online tasting note for reference:

Nose:
Dark berries such as blackberries on a tangy, fruity background, with rhubarb, caramelized cane sugar and whole milk chocolate with nuts as well as a fine spice reminiscent of coniferous forests.

Palate:
Full-bodied and dark, spicy, but at the same time gentle and mild with dark chocolate, overripe blackberries and block malt. Then light peat smoke, maritime echoes and spicy pine needles.

Finish:
Dark, fruity and creamy with subtle peat smoke, dark chocolate and finely finished spiciness.
