This Cask Exploration series release, OLC:01, is one of the highly acclaimed editions among the many expressions. Achieving such a high score on WB with numerous votes is no small feat.

Before its Oloroso finish, this PC OLC:01 underwent a rather complex maturation process, spending time in various casks:
30% 1st fill American Whiskey casks
40% 2nd fill American Whiskey casks
25% Vins doux naturel (VDN) casks (Sweet fortified wine from Southern France)
5% 2nd fill Syrah casks (Shiraz)
It was then finished in 1st fill Oloroso Hogsheads for 18 months.

Online tasting notes for reference

Nose:
Peat smoke shrouds jammy dark fruits, with caramelised nuts, festive spices and orange peel, with notes of mocha, maple syrup and a touch of maritime influence.

Palate:
Rich and oily, with fragrant smoke, candied nuts and dried fig, alongside cigar box, peppery oak and more orange peel.

Finish:
The smoke is dry now, with dried fruit sweetness, cocoa and vanilla buttercream, supported by mineral saltiness and citrus curd.
