The legend of Monkey 47 began in the 1950s with Montgomery Collins, a British Royal Air Force Wing Commander who moved to the Black Forest. Passionate about gin, he opened a guesthouse called 'The Wild Monkey'. Collins combined the region's rich natural resources with traditional gin recipes to create a unique spirit.
Years later, this legendary recipe was rediscovered by Alexander Stein, founder of Black Forest Distillers. Collaborating with master distiller Christoph Keller, they refined the formula to create the Monkey 47 we know today. Each bottle is presented in a vintage brown apothecary style, symbolizing handcrafted precision. It is a masterpiece of Black Forest craft, British tradition, and experimental spirit, winning numerous international awards and becoming a cult favorite among bartenders globally.
