Located on the Isle of Mull off the west coast of Scotland, Tobermory Distillery has a long history spanning over 200 years (founded in 1798). Interestingly, while the distillery itself is named Tobermory, its heavily peated range uses the distillery's original name 'Ledaig', which means 'Safe Haven' in Scottish Gaelic.
Tobermory Distillery alternates production between two distinct styles: the unpeated Tobermory, which showcases sweet fruitiness, and the heavily peated Ledaig, reflecting rugged island character. Ledaig 10 Years Old is the flagship of this range, matured in high-quality bourbon casks to ensure a full oily texture and complex layers.
Unlike the medicinal peat found on Islay, Ledaig's smoke is drier and more forest-like, mixed with a strong sea salt character. This 10-year-old expression won Gold at The Global Scotch Whisky Masters in 2015 and received international acclaim again in 2019, cementing its place among island whiskies. For collectors seeking a unique smoky experience, Ledaig 10 Years Old is a high-value masterpiece.
