Tasting Notes
- Nose: Powerful smoke intertwined with sweet malt, wet peat, and coal. Develops into delicate notes of chocolate and warm cinnamon.
- Palate: Full-bodied; rich sweet malt, intense peat, and wood smoke coat the palate. Distinct coal notes emerge in the mid-palate with clear complexity.
- Finish: Extremely long and powerful, where sweetness and smoke coexist, leaving a lingering coal-like aftertaste.
Product Details
Laphroaig Quarter Cask draws inspiration from 19th-century traditions. In the past, smaller casks were used for easier transport by horse. This whisky is first aged in standard bourbon barrels before being moved to 'Quarter Casks' (approx. 50L) for secondary maturation. Because the spirit-to-wood contact area is increased by about 30%, this NAS expression delivers incredible complexity, oiliness, and depth, featuring enhanced vanilla sweetness and oak spice.

Located on the south coast of Islay, Laphroaig has been famous since 1815 for its medicinal profile, sea salt notes, and heavy peat. It remains one of the few distilleries to use its own floor maltings and local peat. Its extreme style is often described as 'Love it or Hate it'.
