  • Palate: Dominated by seaweed flavors, revealing notes of cardamom, vanilla ice cream, and medicinal TCP. Strong oak influence followed by layers of nutmeg, black pepper, and chili heat.
  • Finish: Full-bodied and dry with complex tar and iodine, leaving a long-lasting aftertaste.
  • Summary: This is the only Laphroaig expression former Distillery Manager John Campbell recommends adding water to. A few drops significantly open the palate, revealing stunningly rich layers of flavor.

Located on the south coast of Islay, the Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by the Johnston brothers. Its name means 'beautiful hollow by the broad bay' in Gaelic, yet its flavor is as powerful as a coastal storm.

The distillery is famous for its 'Floor Maltings' tradition, one of the few in Scotland to maintain this craft. With their own peat beds on the island, the local peat contains a higher proportion of seaweed and lichen, which is the secret behind Laphroaig's signature medicinal, iodine, and saline taste.

In 1994, Prince Charles (now King Charles III) visited the distillery and granted it his Royal Warrant, making Laphroaig the only single malt whisky to hold this honor. Every bottle of Laphroaig 10 Years Old carries over two centuries of craftsmanship and the raw soul of Islay.
