Since the distillery was established in Yilan in 2005, Kavalan has taken the world by storm with its tropical maturation method. The high humidity and heat of Taiwan accelerate the interaction between the spirit and the oak, allowing Kavalan whiskies to achieve a depth and maturity in a few years that rival much older Scotch whiskies.
The Concertmaster series is inspired by the lead player of an orchestra, symbolizing how the master blender, like a conductor, harmonizes distinct flavors. This Sherry Finish is the second chapter of the series. Unlike the Port Cask Finish, this expression focuses on the rich aromas of dark dried fruits, walnuts, and honey. By using refill casks for initial maturation, the blender maintains the purity of the spirit, preventing heavy tannins from masking the tropical fruit DNA. This delicate finishing process allows the liquid to absorb the essence of the sherry cask while maintaining superb balance and drinkability.
