Kavalan Whisky, since establishing its distillery in Yilan, Taiwan, in 2005, has astonished the global whisky community with its unique tropical climate maturation method. Due to the high subtropical temperatures in Yilan, the interaction between the whisky and the oak casks is incredibly rapid, allowing Kavalan's expressions to exhibit the rich texture and maturity typically associated with high-aged Scotch whiskies in a much shorter time.
The 'Concertmaster' series takes its inspiration from the principal player in an orchestra, symbolizing how the master blender, like a conductor, orchestrates various unique yet perfectly integrated flavors. This Sherry Finish expression is the second movement in the series. Unlike the first Port Cask Finish, this release focuses more on showcasing the rich aromas of dark dried fruits, walnuts, and honey brought by the Sherry Cask. By initially maturing in Refill Casks, the blender can precisely control the purity of the base spirit, preventing excessive woody tannins from masking the distillery's inherent tropical fruit DNA.
