Hennessy, founded by Richard Hennessy in 1765, is the world's largest and oldest cognac house. Its headquarters are located in the Cognac region of Charente, France. Hennessy is most renowned for its two centuries of inventory and management of 'eaux-de-vie' (the 'water of life'). The House owns the world's largest cognac reserves, with some rare vintage spirits dating back to the 19th century.
In 1817, the Prince Regent of England (later King George IV) requested Hennessy blend a 'Very Superior Old Pale' (VSOP) for him, officially defining the standard for global cognac grading. Later, in 1870, Maurice Hennessy of the Hennessy family created the first XO (Extra Old) for a gathering of friends and family, once again revolutionizing the industry. Today, Hennessy is not only a key member of the luxury group LVMH but also a symbol of premium taste and French savoir-vivre. Its VSOP, maintaining consistent high quality, remains a perennial classic for banquets, gatherings, and gifting in Hong Kong.
