Founded by Richard Hennessy in 1765, Hennessy is the world's largest and most historic Cognac house. Headquartered in the Cognac region of Charente, France, it is most famous for its management of 'eaux-de-vie' stocks for over two hundred years. The house possesses the world's largest inventory of Cognac, with some rare stocks dating back to the 19th century.
In 1817, the British Prince Regent (later George IV) requested Hennessy to blend a 'Very Superior Old Pale' (VSOP), which officially defined the global standards for Cognac grades. Later in 1870, Maurice Hennessy created the first XO (Extra Old) for friends and family, once again revolutionizing the industry. Today, as a key member of the LVMH luxury group, Hennessy remains a symbol of top-tier taste and French refinement.
