The Glenlivet distillery, founded in 1824, was the first licensed distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland. Founder George Smith insisted on using unique lantern-shaped stills, which gave Glenlivet whisky its signature elegant floral aroma and delicate texture. At the time, Glenlivet's reputation for quality was so great that other distilleries began copying its name, until 1884 when the distillery won the exclusive right to be called 'The Glenlivet'.
This 21-year-old expression comes from the renowned 'Sample Room' collection, symbolizing the distillery's spirit of continuous innovation. Through carefully selected 1st-Fill Oloroso Sherry casks, the liquid gains rich toffee and dried fruit flavors; Cognac casks bring complex structure and delicate grape notes; while Port casks bestow warm dark berry tones. 21 years of slow maturation allow these complex flavors to blend perfectly, showcasing a depth and balance that transcends its age.
