The GlenAllachie Distillery is nestled in the heart of Scotland's Speyside region. Since its establishment in 1967, it had long served as a key malt contributor for blended whiskies. However, everything changed dramatically in 2017 when industry legend Billy Walker, boasting over 50 years of experience, spearheaded the acquisition of the distillery. Renowned for his meticulous approach to cask management, Billy's very first move upon taking the helm was to slash annual production from 4 million liters to 500,000 liters and extend fermentation times to 160 hours, aiming to extract a purer, fruitier new make spirit.
This 15-year-old expression is a signature masterpiece of Billy Walker's reformation. Every year, he personally inspects thousands of casks in the cellars to ensure only those at their absolute peak are bottled. The 15-year maturation primarily utilizes Oloroso sherry casks (providing nut and spice notes) alongside Pedro Ximénez sherry casks (bringing sweet raisins and syrup character). Under Billy's leadership, GlenAllachie quickly stepped from the backstage into the spotlight, earning numerous accolades from the World Whiskies Awards (WWA).
