Product Details

Benromach was acquired in 1993 by the renowned independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail (G&M), dedicated to reshaping the long-lost traditional Speyside style. This 10-year-old expression insists on using premium 1st Fill Casks for maturation, perfectly blending rich fruit sweetness with a subtle touch of smoky peat to showcase a deep, full-bodied character.

Founded in 1898, the Benromach Distillery has seen many ups and downs, facing multiple production halts. A turning point came in 1993 when it was taken over by the legendary masters at Gordon & MacPhail, who breathed new life into the brand. The G&M family did not aim to create the modern, ultra-sweet popular style; instead, they were committed to restoring the old-fashioned Speyside style of the 'Golden Age' of the 1960s—a complex profile with a touch of peat and rich layers.

What makes this 10-year-old release special is its rigorous cask selection. The distillery exclusively uses 'First-fill casks,' meaning the barrels have only held bourbon or sherry once before being filled with Benromach spirit, providing the most intense essence and aroma. The maturation recipe consists of 80% 1st fill bourbon casks and 20% 1st fill sherry casks, followed by a final year of marrying in 1st fill sherry casks. This process results in a unique masterpiece within Speyside where smoke and fruit coexist beautifully.
