Product Details
This Balvenie 17 Year Old utilizes the brand's famous 'DoubleWood' process. The whisky first matures in traditional American oak barrels, giving it soft vanilla and sweet base notes. It is then moved to European Sherry oak casks for finishing, adding rich spiciness, dark fruit flavors, and complexity. This 17-year-old expression boasts a more robust woody character and deeper sweetness than the 12-year version, representing the craftsmanship of Master Blender David C. Stewart.

Read More About the Brand
The Balvenie distillery, located in Dufftown, Speyside, is one of the few remaining distilleries that still adheres to traditional handcrafted processes. Since its founding in 1892, it has maintained the 'Five Rare Crafts': home-grown barley, traditional floor maltings, on-site coppersmiths, an on-site cooperage, and the expertise of a Malt Master.
The story of the 17 Year Old DoubleWood is closely linked to David C. Stewart MBE, the longest-serving Malt Master in the industry and a pioneer of 'Cask Finishing'. This expression was launched to commemorate David's 50th anniversary at the distillery. It maintains the balance of the 12-year version but evolves into a richer, fuller body due to the extra five years in the wood.
