Fully matured in first-fill Sherry Hogsheads for at least seven years, it is non-chill filtered and bottled with natural colour at cask strength. Located on the west coast of Scotland, the Isle of Arran was once a smuggler's paradise. Founded in 1995, the Lochranza Distillery (formerly Arran Distillery) inherits this heritage. 'The Bodega' is a tribute to the Spanish wine cellars that supply Scotland with the finest Sherry casks.
Previously, the 12 Year Old Cask Strength was a pillar of the brand. When the core range was redesigned, The Bodega was introduced as a non-age statement (NAS) but more explosive sherry-style expression. By choosing Hogsheads (approx. 250L) over larger Butts (approx. 500L), the liquid has more contact with the wood, allowing it to absorb concentrated fruit and tannin in a shorter time.
For those who love the Sherry style but seek the raw impact of Cask Strength, Arran The Bodega is an excellent choice. The 55.8% ABV preserves the natural oils and allows the spirit to bloom with nuts and spices after adding a few drops of water.
