Aroma:
Rich, spicy and deep with notes of toffee, chocolate-covered raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg. Hints of Seville orange and dates emerge, with a distant suggestion of bonfire smoke. A splash of water brings out the more herbal notes of lemon balm, pine needles and beeswax.
Taste:
A luscious, syrupy texture leads into notes of orange, figs and clove. This is followed by a rush of dark muscovado sugar, edged with gentle walnut hints. Next come savoury notes of roasted meat and aged balsamic vinegar.
Finish:
Characteristically smoky, with hints of antiseptic and soot.
