Product Details

Aberlour 18 Years Old is a member of the distillery's high-end core range. Its unique 'Double Cask' technique allows the spirit to mature in premium sherry casks for 18 long years, absorbing rich fruitiness and spicy textures. This expression is not only incredibly silky on the palate but also displays a deep mahogany hue, making it a top choice for appreciating Speyside sherry-style whisky.

The Aberlour Distillery is located in the heart of the Speyside region in the village of Aberlour. Founded by James Fleming in 1879, the site was chosen where spring water from the Ben Rinnes mountains converges. Aberlour means 'mouth of the chattering burn' in Gaelic, symbolizing the pure contribution of the water source to the whisky's quality.

The distillery adheres to traditional craftsmanship, particularly its famous 'Double Cask' maturation. The 18-year-old was previously a reserve for specific markets like France and was later released globally due to its outstanding depth and complexity. Unlike many lighter Speyside styles, Aberlour seeks a more robust, creamy body, thanks to its short and wide still design that retains heavier flavor molecules. The 18-year maturation transforms lively fruit notes into deep dried fruits and spices, perfectly interpreting the elegance and power of Speyside whisky.
