Tomintoul Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Release of 1966 Single Cask Whisky
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the distillery, Tomintoul has announced the release of a very rare 1966 single cask bourbon barrel single malt whisky. This bourbon cask number 6077 was distilled by Tomintoul's first master distiller Islay Shaw. After nearly sixty years of aging, there are only 79 bottles available, each priced at £17,500.
This whisky was distilled in October 1966 and matured in a bourbon cask specially commissioned for this purpose. The barrel is made from specially selected American oak, imparting luxurious notes of fruit, almond, and vanilla cream to the whisky. On the palate, flavors of peach and apricot jam, toasted fennel seed, and coffee cake can be tasted. Tomintoul's whisky is bottled at an alcohol content of 40.3% ABV.
Cask number 6077 was personally selected and nurtured by master distiller Robert Fleming, who recognized the extraordinary potential of this whisky. He patiently monitored its maturation process to ensure it reached the perfect flavor profile before release. Fleming stated: "At Tomintoul, we take great pride in handcrafting our whisky and appreciate the flavors and complexity that develop over time. This whisky encapsulates the story of several generations and celebrates decades of traditional craftsmanship, techniques, and passion at Tomintoul Distillery."
This rare Tomintoul whisky is presented in a specially designed and numbered crystal decanter, handmade, engraved, and filled by the Glencairn Crystal team, with a metal surface that exhibits a velvet gold sheen, making each bottle unique. Each whisky bottle comes with a custom display box and a booklet signed by Robert Fleming.
Robert added: "This whisky provides enthusiasts with an opportunity to elevate their whisky experience, offering a precious liquid history of Tomintoul."
