Setting a Distillery Record! An Ultimate Craft Release Limited to 250 Bottles

Indiana-based Starlight Distillery has officially announced the release of its new "10-Year Mizunara Reserve" single barrel bourbon, marking the distillery's oldest-ever age statement for a Mizunara cask finish. Globally limited to just 250 bottles, this iconic limited-edition whiskey celebrates the distillery's recent triumph of winning Best Bourbon in Show at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC), fully demonstrating its exceptional distilling craftsmanship and unique innovation in the American whiskey sector.

This ultimate creation is bottled at Single Barrel, Cask Strength. All grain ingredients used in its production are 100% estate-grown on Starlight Distillery's 700-plus-acre farm. The distillery adheres to a sweet mash fermentation process and double distillation using specialized Vendome copper pot stills. The mash bill is precisely formulated with 60% corn, 20% rye, and 20% malted barley, entering the barrel between 108 and 116 proof, and ultimately bottled at a cask strength of 110 proof.

Rare Japanese Mizunara Ancient Trees Finish for a Deep, Enigmatic Profile

In terms of aging, the spirit first matures for years in heavily charred, new American white oak casks before being transferred to extremely rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks for the final finishing process. These Mizunara casks are strictly selected from precious ancient trees aged between 200 and 500 years old on Japan's northernmost island. According to the distillery's official tasting notes, the palate opens with sweet French vanilla and warm toasted spices, while the finish reveals a harmonious interplay of sandalwood and coconut, endowing the whiskey with an exquisitely elegant, complex, and deep profile.

Christian Huber, representing the distillery family, stated that this expression, nurtured through a decade of patient aging, not only profoundly blends the essence of their estate-grown grains with the character of Mizunara casks that cannot be rushed, but also perfectly embodies the core distilling spirit of Starlight Distillery, serving as a highest honor declaration of family heritage. Notably, the distillery recently shone brightly at the SFWSC, sweeping a total of six awards across its product lineup, with this Mizunara cask bourbon receiving a perfect score and Double Gold recognition from the judges.
