Scotch Whisky Experience Expands Tours to 21 Languages
Vietnamese and Sign Language Tours Added to Elevate International Visitor Experience
Located on Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile, The Scotch Whisky Experience has announced that its guided tour offerings have officially expanded to 21 languages, with Vietnamese as the latest addition. With more than 70% of visitors arriving from outside the UK, the premier Scotch whisky attraction upgraded its tour system to cater to growing global demand.

According to visitor data released by the attraction, US travelers make up the largest share at 24%, followed by France at 7%, while Germany and the Netherlands each account for 4%. Furthermore, management observed rising demand from other markets, including Czech, Hindi, European Portuguese, and Brazilian Portuguese, with the newly added Vietnamese option already proving popular among inbound tour groups.
Connecting Heritage in Native Tongues with Accessible Sign Language Guides
Angela Dineen, Operations Director at The Scotch Whisky Experience, pointed out that many guests do not expect to hear the story of Scotch whisky in their native language, a feature that transforms the overall tour experience. She highlighted that Dutch and Swedish travelers, who are typically fluent in English, respond particularly enthusiastically when discovering their native tongues are available. Regarding Brazilian Portuguese, Dineen explained that the venue's whisky collection was originally amassed in Brazil by Claive Vidiz, giving the language option a unique connection for Brazilian visitors.
In addition to spoken audio tours, the attraction is committed to accessibility. The team partnered with deaf charity Deaf Action to develop digital guides covering British Sign Language (BSL), American Sign Language (ASL), and International Sign (IS).
When The Scotch Whisky Experience first opened in 1988, it offered tours in just six languages. Today, all visitors receive complimentary handheld devices on-site, allowing direct access to all 21 language tours, sign language options, and accessibility features without needing a personal smartphone or mobile device.
