Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection Chapter Six—The Final Taste of History

Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection Chapter Six is the final release from the Old Midleton Distillery, marking the end of its 200-year history. This 50-year-old single pot still Irish whiskey is not only the oldest in the series but also the last remaining liquid from Old Midleton's 150-year legacy.

The Silent Distillery Collection began in 2020 as a tribute to the Old Midleton Distillery, which operated from 1825 to 1975. Each annual release has been progressively older, showcasing rare stocks that were maturing when the distillery ceased production. Chapter Six was distilled in 1973 and 1974 by legendary master distiller Max Crockett, initially aged in American bourbon casks, and then carefully tended by three successive master distillers over half a century.

Most notably, the whiskey underwent a final six-month 'marrying phase' in a specially crafted 'time capsule' cask by cooper Ger Buckley. This cask was made using staves from the first five chapters and bears the signatures of three generations of coopers. Current master distiller Kevin O'Gorman expressed deep honor in being part of this historic moment.

The packaging is equally luxurious—each bottle is a hand-blown Waterford crystal decanter, accompanied by a custom cabinet designed by John Galvin using six rare woods. Tasting notes describe a complex flavor profile with aged depth and vibrant fruitiness, a rich and lingering palate, and an exceptionally long finish.
