Tradition Meets Innovation: LDC Unveils New Chapter in London Single Malt Maturation

Based in the UK, the London Distillery Company (LDC) has announced the launch of its first Single Malt whisky series, New Forms, exploring the evolutionary potential of raw spirit. Since its 2025 relaunch, the distillery has combined its signature traditional grain profiles with innovative maturation techniques using previously unused oak finishing processes, showcasing the position of London whisky in the modern spirits market.

Three Single Cask Releases Showcase Ultimate Flavor Contrast

The New Forms series features three Cask Strength single cask whiskies: Ex-Bourbon Cask, Fino Sherry Cask, and Moscatel Sherry Cask. The Ex-Bourbon Cask offers layers of honey and tropical juice; the Fino Sherry Cask, aged in a Fino Hogshead, brings candied lemon peel and a hint of salinity; while the Moscatel Sherry Cask provides caramelized orange peel and ginger spice, demonstrating a high-tension flavor contrast.

The casks were sourced from the Spanish cooperage Tonelería JL Rodríguez. Matt McKay, LDC's Managing Director and Whisky Maker, utilized selected cask aging to allow the raw malt character to evolve. McKay stated that New Forms demonstrates the synergy between spirit and wood, unlocking new flavor dimensions while preserving the distillery's DNA, driving a transformation in the spirit's character.
