Five Centuries of Wisdom: Nectere Unites Scotch and Spanish Craftsmanship
Lindores Abbey distillery in Fife, Scotland, has announced the release of Nectere, a limited-edition single malt whisky. Fully matured in four distinct types of sherry casks, this new expression aims for ultimate depth and balance. The name "Nectere" is derived from the Latin Conectere, meaning "to connect" or "to bind," symbolizing the fusion of centuries-old brewing knowledge with Lindores Abbey's status as the spiritual home of Scotch whisky and traditional Spanish sherry craftsmanship.

Tracing back to 1494: Heritage and Terroir of Whisky's Origins
Lindores Abbey is recognized as the site of the earliest written record of Scotch whisky distillation, dating back to 1494. Nectere not only inherits this profound history but also emphasizes the bond between the spirit and the land. The Fife barley used is grown on land surrounding the distillery—the same fields tilled by monks centuries ago—showcasing the symbiosis between local agriculture and whisky. Distillery Manager Gary Haggart stated that this release embodies the team's creativity, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence.
