Laphroaig has announced the expansion of its 12-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky within the travel retail channel for 2025, featuring meticulously crafted immersive experience spaces and bars at international airports. The rollout began in Paris in March, followed by Taipei and Beijing in April, and will reach Seoul, Delhi, and Mumbai in May. This move continues the successful partnership with retailer Gebr. Heinemann, using physical interactions to engage travelers and convert tasting experiences into purchases.

A Pure Expression of Iconic Islay Flavor

Matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration, this expression ensures a pure flavor profile. As a travel retail exclusive, it targets both long-time fans and whisky newcomers. The palate showcases signature sweetness, saltiness, and smoke; whether enjoyed neat or with a splash of water, notes of stewed apples, heather honey, and Islay seaweed emerge. Its complexity highlights the distillery's craftsmanship and classic Islay peat style.

Core Strategy for Deep Global Engagement

Gareth Jones, Managing Director at Suntory Global Spirits, noted that travel retail is key to connecting with global enthusiasts. Since the 2014 acquisition of Beam Inc., the group has strengthened its presence in this channel. As a Royal Warrant-holding Islay distillery, Laphroaig aims to deepen flavor memories through airport experiences. In a competitive market, physical activations have become a core strategy, allowing travelers to deeply experience this bold, smoky whisky during their journey of discovery.
