Johnnie Walker Collaborates with Robert Wun for Lunar Year of the Horse Limited Edition Whisky
Diageo announces Johnnie Walker s collaboration with fashion designer Robert Wun, unveiling limited edition bottle designs for its Johnnie Walker Blue Label and John Walker & Sons XR 21 Year Old to celebrate the upcoming Lunar Year of the Horse. These two limited edition products will be launched in the global market, with sales commencing before the Lunar New Year celebrations in February 2026.
This collaboration merges the worlds of Scotch whisky and haute couture, embodying the brand s consistent strategy of releasing Lunar New Year special editions through partnerships with cultural creatives. Robert Wun, a Hong Kong-born, London-based fashion designer, is known for his avant-garde and sculptural work and became the first Hong Kong designer to be listed on the official Paris Haute Couture Week calendar.
Wun s design draws inspiration from the powerful, optimistic, and unstoppable spirit symbolized by the horse. He stated, Breaking boundaries is at the core of storytelling, and this is how I create: How can I take it to the next level? How can I inject magic into the collaboration? He further elaborated, For the Year of the Horse, this connection is particularly meaningful—horses galloping forward, symbolizing optimism and the determination to constantly break through boundaries.
This limited edition aims to appeal to existing Blue Label collectors, as well as a new cohort of luxury consumers interested in contemporary design. Mariana Assis, Global Director of Luxury Innovation at Johnnie Walker, praised the collaboration, describing Robert Wun as a true pioneer whose exquisite craftsmanship, rich imagination, and cultural influence align perfectly with Johnnie Walker s core values. She mentioned that the brand is always seeking partners who value tradition while boldly reinterpreting it for a new era.
The whisky inside the limited edition bottles remains Johnnie Walker Blue Label. This classic blended Scotch whisky is selected from the brand s vast reserves, with Diageo stating that only one in ten thousand casks possesses the unique flavor profile required for Blue Label. Its official tasting notes describe it as rich with layers of spice, vanilla, honey, caramel, hazelnut, dark chocolate, and a long, smoky finish.
In addition to the Blue Label version, Wun has also designed a limited edition bottle for John Walker & Sons XR 21 Year Old. This whisky utilizes a rare three-stage blending process, featuring whiskies aged for at least 21 years. Tasting notes include layers of honey, spice, and tropical fruits, accompanied by a warm finish.
The Lunar Year of the Horse in 2026 begins on February 17th. The two limited edition designs will be available in markets including the United States, Greater China, Southeast Asia, Canada, Australia, Europe, and the UK. According to IWSR 2024 data, Johnnie Walker is the world s number one selling Scotch whisky brand, with operations in over 160 countries.
