Heaven Hill's Oldest Whiskey Ever
The latest release from Heaven Hill, the Heritage Collection, is the newest member of this series, which was launched in 2022 to specifically showcase a high-aged whiskey from one of the distillery's six grain mashbills. However, this series is different from Parker’s Heritage Collection, which typically uses multiple grain mashbills and often employs special barrel-aging treatments.
This brand new Heritage Collection version is a Straight Wheat Whiskey, made from a mashbill of 51% wheat, 37% corn, and 12% malted barley. This whiskey is aged for 19 years, with a total of 277 barrels, distilled in August and September of 2005. This is Heaven Hill's oldest whiskey ever.
Compared to bourbon, rye, and single malt whiskeys, Wheat Whiskey is relatively low-key in the market. However, Heaven Hill has been a staunch supporter of this style, with the most representative brand being Bernheim Original, which recently released a barrel proof version that ranked 10th in the 2024 Top 20 whiskeys list. Previously, the Heritage Collection has released an 18-year bourbon whiskey, a 20-year corn whiskey, and a barrel proof whiskey blended from 17, 19, and 20-year bourbon distillates.
