Gordon & MacPhail 5-Bottle Single Malt Set (Ltd 15)

Partnering with Sir Kenny Dalglish to Chronicle Sporting Milestones: Presenting Five Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whiskies

Elgin-based independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail has officially unveiled its Vintage Moments collection. The inaugural release collaborates with Celtic and Liverpool football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, selecting five single malt Scotch whiskies for a bespoke set strictly limited to 15 individually numbered editions worldwide.

This collection commemorates five pivotal moments across Dalglish's life and sporting career, spanning from his birth in 1951 to leading Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League title in 1995. Each collection contains five 700ml bottles alongside a dedicated commemorative book hand-signed by Dalglish.

Tasting Profiles of Five Specific Vintages and Cask Matched Expressions

Each single malt expression showcases distinct cask maturation. The 1951 Glen Grant, distilled in his birth year and aged in a first-fill Sherry Puncheon, offers a silky, creamy texture with orange, stewed pear, toasted hazelnut, and freshly cracked black pepper. The 1967 Longmorn, matured in a first-fill Sherry Butt, yields notes of black cherry, roasted walnut, and espresso. Celebrating his 1974 marriage to his wife Marina, the 1974 Strathisla from a refill Sherry Butt reveals intricate layers of leather, dark chocolate, and toasted oak.

The 1977 Benromach, matured for over 40 years in a refill Sherry Hogshead, overflows with spiced stewed pear, strawberry, and clementine aromas. Concluding the series is the 1995 Glentauchers, marking his 1995 Premier League championship triumph, matured in a first-fill Sherry Butt delivering cinnamon, stewed orchard fruits, raspberry, and white pepper nuances.

Dalglish commented that selecting these five single malts was an immense honour, noting the challenge of narrowing down a lifetime of fond memories to five defining years and expressing his excitement to share these stories. Stephen Rankin, Director of Prestige at Gordon & MacPhail, added that the company maintains complete vintage liquid inventories dating back to 1948, with many casks originally laid down by his grandfather George Urquhart, widely regarded as the 'father of single malt'. Furthermore, the brand announced that it will offer bespoke Vintage Moments curation services to 10 private clients annually.
