Glen Grant Eternal 77 Year Old Sets New Distillery Auction Record
Glen Grant Single Malt Scotch Whisky has launched a single malt Scotch whisky named Eternal 77-Year-Old, setting a new auction record for the distillery. This unique whisky was auctioned at The Distillers One of One Auction, with all proceeds donated to The Distillers’ Charity to support young people in Scotland. The Eternal 77-Year-Old was the most aged single malt at this auction, and its auction price far exceeded expectations. The previous record was set by the distillery’s The Visionary 68-Year-Old at the 2023 Distiller’s One of One auction.
The total proceeds from this auction exceeded 2,895,902 pounds sterling, all of which will be used to support the various charitable works carried out by The Distillers’ Charity. This Glen Grant Eternal whisky was distilled in 1948 and matured for 77 years in a single Sherry-seasoned European oak butt. It was bottled at 43% ABV and presented in an oversized 1.5-liter bottle. The bottle design was inspired by a sprouting seed pod, featuring a silver cage and a malachite stopper, elements that echo the distillery’s iconic copper pot stills.
Glen Grant distillery was founded in 1840 in the Rothes region of Speyside, and its current Master Distiller is Greig Stables. According to the tasting notes provided by the brand, the aroma of this whisky opens with rich mature berries, followed by dry spices and deep oak flavors. On the palate, one can taste aromatic Seville orange, rich apricot, woody spices, and a warm peat smoke.
