Compass Box Celebrates 25 Years with Inaugural Art Exhibition
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, renowned Scottish whisky brand Compass Box will host its first art exhibition, titled “Imaginarium The Fantastical World of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger,” this December at The Wolfsonian-FIU Museum in Miami Beach. The month-long exhibition, running concurrently with Art Basel, aims to visually explore imagination, design, and storytelling, showcasing Compass Box’s journey from vision to icon.
Visitors will have the opportunity to personally experience the fantastical worlds built behind several of Compass Box’s iconic whiskies, including The Entertainer, Brûlée Royale, Canvas, Rogues’ Banquet, Phenomenology, and the Hedonism series. The exhibition will guide audiences through Compass Box’s unique development trajectory using both physical and digital exhibits.
The exhibition also specifically highlights the long-standing partnership between Compass Box and international brand and packaging design firm Stranger & Stranger, which has been responsible for designing many of Compass Box’s distinctive labels. Angela D’Orazio, Creative Director of Whiskymaking at Compass Box, stated, “We coined the term ‘whiskymaker’ in 2000 because we believed our creations went far beyond simple blending. We were always committed to creating complete worlds for our whiskies.” She continued, “Over the years, the team at Stranger & Stranger has brought these worlds and stories to life through their fantastical label designs, exceeding our imagination every time and blending beauty with the surreal to create truly stunning works. We are beyond excited to have the opportunity to let everyone step inside these worlds for the first time!”
The Wolfsonian-FIU Museum is an institution that combines museum, library, and research center, dedicated to interpreting the persuasive power of art and design through its exhibits. Ivan Wilson-Bell, Group CEO and Managing Director of Stranger & Stranger, commented, “Our work with Compass Box has always been built on a shared imagination and a deep respect for craft. Together, we’ve created a visual world that brings the story of each whisky to life—each label is a standalone piece of art, imbued with its own spirit and narrative. To be able to celebrate our creative journey through this exhibition is a perfect tribute to what we’ve achieved together over the years.”
