Ardbeg Launches New Core Range 15-Year-Old Trudernish

Exploring the Mythical Cape of Islay: Ardbeg's New 15-Year-Old Core Masterpiece Arrives

Renowned Islay single malt Scotch whisky distillery Ardbeg has officially announced the launch of its brand-new core expression, Ardbeg Trudernish. The name and inspiration for this 15-year-old single malt stem from Trudernish, an ancient settlement on the island's mysterious Enchanted Cape, legendary for its elusive and perpetually unfrozen wishing well. The Ardbeg blending team continues to explore the distillery's unique peaty paradox, striving for deeper and richer new dimensions of flavor to craft this permanent addition combining ancient legend with exquisite craftsmanship.

Regarding maturation, Ardbeg Trudernish is bottled at 48.8% ABV, expertly matured in a combination of bourbon casks, new charred oak casks, and Oloroso sherry casks, perfectly showcasing the rounded palate and profound layers bestowed by aging. This remarkable creation has already proven its exceptional pedigree, winning a Double Gold medal at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, highlighting the distillery's mastery in flavor balance and cask management.

Alongside the new release, Ardbeg has announced that starting this autumn, its entire core range will receive a fresh visual identity. The new look retains the distillery's signature black aesthetic, accented with unique earth tones tailored to each expression. The cartons and bottle labels specially incorporate woodcut-style illustrations paying tribute to Celtic heritage, vividly portraying the individual story, cask recipe, and distinct flavor profile behind each whisky.

A Flavor Profile Interweaving Rich Peat and Silky Creaminess

On the palate, this expression exudes earthy peat and gentle wood smoke, intertwined with rich creamy notes reminiscent of melted vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce, accompanied by complex layers of pine resin, heather honey, green apple, pear, and black pepper. Adding water further unlocks fruit notes of ripe melon and kiwi. Ardbeg Director of Whisky Creation Dr Bill Lumsden MBE noted that this permanent 15-year-old expression elegantly balances smoky intensity with silky vanilla and creaminess; Distillery Manager Bryony McNiven also pointed out that the new packaging will guide drinkers more easily through the unique charms of the core range, from Ardbeg Ten to Ardbeg Uigeadail.
