Morrison Family Unveils First Aberargie Single Malt Whisky

Back to the Heart of Distilling: Aberargie Showcases Barley-to-Bottle Traceability

The renowned Scottish Morrison family has announced its return to distilling with the official launch of the first single malt whisky from Aberargie Distillery. Located in Perthshire, Scotland, the distillery filled its first casks in 2017, marking the family's re-establishment in whisky production since the sale of Morrison Bowmore in 1994. As one of Scotland's oldest whisky dynasties, this return is not only a milestone but a testament to their dedication to traditional craftsmanship and heritage.

From Seed to Spirit: Preserving the Pure Flavor of Heritage Barley

Aberargie adheres to a "Barley-to-Bottle" philosophy, with the entire production process completed within the family farm. This inaugural release features a mash bill of 52% Golden Promise and 48% Laureate barley, all grown on family land. The distillery specifically chose Golden Promise, a heritage variety popular in the 1960s, to achieve a richer, oilier mouthfeel and deep flavor, ensuring complete traceability and terroir from seed to spirit.

Global Launch in 2026: Rich Layers of Sherry Cask Maturation

In terms of maturation, this whisky combines first-fill Bourbon casks and first-fill Sherry casks, bottled at 48.2% ABV. It remains non-chill filtered with no added color. The flavor profile offers layers of baked apple and golden pastry, followed by the sweetness of raisins and prunes, finishing with a long-lasting herbal note. Expected to launch globally in March 2026, the packaging reflects the distillery's landscape. Aberargie Single Malt will become the core of Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, opening a new chapter for the family legacy.
