Rémy Cointreau: Cognac Sales Beat Forecasts, Shares Jump

Strong Rebound in Cognac Sales: Americas and China Drive Recovery

French spirits giant Rémy Cointreau recently released encouraging third-quarter financial data, with performance significantly exceeding market expectations. After two years of a challenging operating environment, the group showed strong signs of recovery, benefiting from a trade rebound in the Americas and stabilizing demand in the China market. According to the report, organic volume growth for the global Cognac business was particularly impressive this quarter, with growth rates far exceeding previous analyst forecasts, becoming the primary engine for the group's overall performance.

Historically, approximately two-thirds of Rémy Cointreau's sales have been concentrated in the Americas and China. However, external factors such as sluggish consumption and Chinese trade policies previously posed significant challenges. Nevertheless, the latest quarterly report shows steady growth in the Americas, while demand in China is trending toward stability. Although challenges remain in China—with some data affected by Chinese New Year inventory timing—other regions including the rest of Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa have already shown recovery momentum.

New CEO's Strategy: Focus on Volume Recovery and Operational Optimization

Beyond the core Cognac business, the group's Liqueurs and Spirits divisions also recorded higher-than-expected growth. Upon taking office, new CEO Franck Marilly immediately proposed a strategy centered on volume recovery, promising to lead the group back to a growth trajectory. To further optimize operations, Rémy Cointreau has commissioned external consultants for in-depth analysis to address market pain points, with plans for phased deployment through the end of 2026.

In peer comparisons, Rémy Cointreau's progress in Cognac stands in stark contrast to Moët Hennessy (LVMH), whose recent data indicates continued struggles with inventory pressure. By comparison, Rémy Cointreau's strategic adjustments and recovery in key regions have undoubtedly injected more confidence into the market, signaling that the group is gradually emerging from its two-year downturn.
