Glengoyne推出稀有Mizunara橡木威士忌

Glengoyne Unveils Rare Mizunara Oak Whisky

Scottish distillery Glengoyne has introduced a limited-edition 16-year-old whisky, Glengoyne Mizunara Oak, which combines traditional Highland distilling techniques with the distinctive flavors of Japanese Mizunara oak. This new expression is the third release in the distillery’s Oak Masters’ Series, following the White Oak editions from previous years.

The whisky was initially aged for ten years in first-fill sherry casks and refill casks before being transferred to rare Mizunara oak casks from Hokkaido, Japan, for an additional six years of maturation. This finishing period is longer than most distilleries’ similar processes. Mizunara oak, known for its high water content and twisted grain, is challenging to work with but imparts unique flavors, making Japanese whiskies aged in these casks highly sought after by collectors.

Brand director Katy Muggeridge stated that the team traveled the world to find casks that could enhance Glengoyne’s elegant fruity notes. Even before its official release, this whisky has already earned a Double Gold award at the 2025 International Spirits Challenge.

Only 3,195 bottles have been produced, with an alcohol strength of 53.4%. The whisky will be available through specialist retailers, the distillery’s website, and its shop. Official tasting notes describe aromas of soft vanilla, sweet toffee, and sandalwood, with flavors of warm spices, coconut, green apple, and licorice, leading to a long finish with floral hints reminiscent of cherry blossoms.

The packaging design reflects the fusion of East and West, featuring Japanese ink-style illustrations of Mizunara trees, the distillery’s iconic geese, and a sunset landscape. Founded in 1833, Glengoyne continues its partnership with the Wildlife and Wetland Trust to maintain wetland reserves and has included this release in its Fine & Rare tasting experience.
