Four Roses Launches New Experimental No. 002 Honey Cask Finish Bourbon

Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of Bourbon: Four Roses Unveils New Experimental Honey Cask Release

Renowned Kentucky-based bourbon distillery Four Roses proudly announces the launch of Experimental Series No. 002 Honey Cask Finish, the second limited-edition masterpiece in its experimental lineup. This new release marks a significant milestone in the brand's exploration of whiskey flavor and maturation craftsmanship. Four Roses has long been celebrated worldwide for its ten distinct, signature recipes. The creation of this experimental series is designed to push beyond those traditional boundaries through unique endeavors, deeply unlocking the boundless potential of the whiskey barrel maturation process while ushering the distillery into a new phase defined by innovation and experimental spirit.

The inspiration behind this whiskey stems from a close collaboration between Four Roses and local Kentucky honey producer Bohman Bee Company, perfectly capturing what the brand describes as "an unexpected journey for a bourbon barrel." In this partnership, the distillery first loaned used bourbon barrels to the beekeeper for aging natural honey. Once the barrels fully absorbed the sweet essence of the honey, they were returned to the distillery for a secondary fill. These honey-kissed oak barrels infuse the spirit with a delicate, elegant natural honey sweetness while preserving the brand's signature balance and distinctive spicy profile.

Crafted by Master Distiller Brent Elliott

In terms of blending artistry, Master Distiller Brent Elliott skillfully married premium bourbon distillates crafted from the distillery's OESQ and OBSK recipes, aged for six, seven, and eight years respectively. This meticulously curated blend was then transferred into the honey casks to finish for three to nine months, and bottled at 104 proof. The expression radiates natural honey aromas and subtle floral notes, accompanied by warm baking spice flavors, culminating in a rich, long-lasting, and layered finish on the palate.

A subsidiary of Japan's Kirin Brewery Company, Four Roses operates its distillery in Lawrenceburg, with aging cellars and bottling facilities located in Cox's Creek. The introduction of the Experimental Series grants the blending team tremendous creative freedom to continually test innovative finishing and blending techniques.
