The transaction involves the ownership of Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL), including the renowned Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricket team. As a key member of the Indian Premier League (IPL), RCB has grown into a globally recognized brand under the management of United Spirits. The new consortium will take over operations, committed to leading the team to new heights both on and off the field.

United Spirits CEO Praveen Someshwar stated that the sale of the cricket business aims to unlock the group's potential and achieve sustainable growth. He emphasized that RCB has established a strong brand spirit and fan base. Additionally, Diageo CEO Sir Dave Lewis mentioned that the group is actively developing mass-market opportunities to further consolidate its leadership and competitive advantage in core spirits and whisky markets.
