Amrut Launches 50th Single Malt Exclusive for Zarf

Indian Whisky Pioneer Amrut Partners with 5-Star Hotel for First Restaurant-Exclusive Single Malt

Indian whisky maker Amrut Distilleries recently announced the launch of its 50th single malt whisky. This release is a result of an exclusive collaboration with Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center, specifically tailored for the hotel's signature Indian fine-dining restaurant, Zarf. This partnership marks the first time an Indian single malt has been crafted exclusively for a single restaurant.

Masterful Craftsmanship: Bespoke Flavor Aged Over Six Years

This bespoke whisky is distilled from Indian six-row barley and aged for over six years in handpicked, rejuvenated American oak barrels. The whisky is designed to complement Zarf's culinary philosophy, which seeks to reinterpret "Lost India" flavors in a modern way. Amrut has long been regarded as a pioneer in the Indian single malt category, gaining international acclaim since its debut in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2004.

Sanjay Gupta, General Manager of Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, stated that partnering with a respected Indian family-owned brand like Amrut reflects the hotel's strategic focus on driving innovation through unique partnerships that blend gastronomy, craft, and culture. At the launch event, a series of dishes curated to match the whisky's flavor profile were served, including Peshawari Namak Mandi Lamb Chops and stoneware-cooked Dal-e-Zarf.

Official Tasting Notes: Golden Honey and Silky Texture

Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director of Amrut Distillery, mentioned that this is their first private label collaboration in India, marking a significant milestone. According to official descriptions, this whisky presents the following flavor profile:

  • Color: Golden honey.
  • Nose: Aromas of vanilla cream, roasted coffee, and chocolate chip muffins.
  • Palate: Fruit jam and a velvety texture with slight citrus notes.
  • Finish: A stunning passion fruit finish with a hint of sweetness and significant length.
