Nose: Instantly nostalgic and very rich, with dark dried fruits such as plums, raisins and sultanas, bright orange notes (orange rinds, marmalade), Cointreau and toffee, plus soft, rounded oak and bakery tones like orange–almond cake with a slightly burnt bottom, backed by hints of mahogany polish and antique leather.

Palate: Wonderfully juicy, thick and oily, with almond oil and rich marzipan, deep sticky Medjool dates, dried orange slices dipped in dark chocolate, sweet sherried fruit, caramel and chocolate, supported by a sophisticated undercurrent of funky aged rum and warming spices such as cinnamon and star anise.

Finish: Long, rich and deeply satisfying, with gentle oak char and dry, spicy oak, a mix of cloves, nutmeg, mace and other baking spices, lingering Muscovado sugar and subtle nuttiness that fades slowly.
