1819年，George Granville Leveson-Gower（1758–1833）創立了原本的 Clynelish 蒸餾廠。
他當時的頭銜是 2nd Marquess of Stafford，後來在1833年被封為 1st Duke of Sutherland（第一代薩瑟蘭公爵）。
他的全名中有「Granville」這個中間名，這就是後來獨立裝瓶商用「Granville」作為Clynelish代號的由來。

Online tasting note for reference:
Nose: Wine notes with sherry, dried herbs, vanilla, wild berries, apples and lemon, alongside sweet pastries, sea salt and hints of leather, oak and cookies with condensed milk; later showing more bourbon influence with toffee and sweet peanuts.
Palate: Tart, sweet and sour with notes of bacon, pepper, salted caramel, dried fruits and a little wax.
Finish: Long, with bacon, plenty of peppers, oak, lemon peel and wax.
